Year 2

Welcome to Year 2

Year 2 is a busy year, full of exciting opportunities and interesting topics to explore. All of the staff working with the Year 2 children would like to say, ‘A big welcome to Year 2.’ We hope they have a wonderful year.

Year 2 is the last year of Key Stage 1 and the children will be formally assessed on their learning in May. Please see our curriculum overview of the subjects and exciting topics that will be taught in Year 2.

Children will be ‘set’ for their Literacy ‘Read Write Inc.’ lessons and will receive spellings to learn weekly based on a particular sound. These will be sent out every Monday, to be tested the following Monday.

Reading books will be changed twice a week. Thank you in advance for supporting your child with regular reading at home.

Maths Practice will be sent home on Fridays, to be handed in the following Friday, to help children consolidate their learning from their lessons that week.

I hope the children enjoy their time in Year 2, are excited about their learning and challenge themselves to be the best that they can be.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to get in touch.
