World Book Day was an exciting day full of stories of magic and adventure as the children explored a variety of traditional tales. Year 2 read different versions of ‘Jack and the Beanstalk’. Their favourite was ‘Jack and the Meanstalk’ which put a new twist on the well-known tale, with the beanstalk being the ‘villain’ of the story and the giant and Jack becoming friends. The children were to glad to find out that the ‘meanstalk’ saw the error of his ways by the end of the story and decided to become a better friend to others.
The classroom was also full of different characters, from dinosaurs to wizards, gingerbread men to highway rats! Have a look at Year 2’s costumes below. I am sure you’ll agree they all looked fantastic and we had an amazing day celebrating books and stories.
