Nos amis français – Our French friends – KS1 French partnership

This year, the Year 2 children are working alongside children from our French partnership school – Les Platanes.  We have exchanged photographs and greetings.  We will be sending our class Paddington to France so he can meet our French friends and look around their school.  Les Platanes children will be sending their class puppet, Jack, to us so we can show him around St. Cuthbert’s.  We know our schools are similar in many ways, but different in others.  We are looking forward to finding out what Paddington and Jack discover on their adventures and what we can learn about our French friends’ school…

The children have already begun learning about French schools through the pictures we have exchanged.  The children noticed differences such as: in Britain, we wear a school uniform, but in France, they were their own clothes to school.  They also noticed that in France, they use a blackboard and chalk, whereas in Britain, we have whiteboards.  We are looking forward to learning more!

Practising their French and English greetings, the children exchanged Christmas and New Year messages.

We can’t wait to see our friendship develop and see how much we can learn from each other about each other’s countries, schools and cultures…
