Year 2’s first Science topic of the year is ‘Living Things’. To start the topic, the children have been thinking about things which are living, once-living and never-living or non-living. They have created a list of properties to help test which category something belongs to.
The children went on a hunt around school to find living and non-living things, as well as challenging themselves to find once-living things too. They worked in pairs and were excellent detectives, using their knowledge to find a wide range of things around around the school to fit into these categories. It was lovely to hear them asking each scientific questions about the properties of each item.
Once back in the classroom, they further developed their sorting skills by categorising a wide selection of pictures too.
Well done Year 2! I certainly have some budding scientists in my class this year!
