In French, Year 4 have been learning how to describe themselves. They have learnt how to describe their eye colour, hair colour, hair length and type and whether or not they wear glasses. The children have worked hard in all areas, developing their Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing skills. They explored particular grammar rules in French that are different from English (for example: word order and making sure the adjective ‘agrees’ with the noun). They have also learnt how the ‘negative’ is explained in French too.
Some children also proved themselves capable of an additional challenge – describing someone else using the ‘third person’. Children learnt the relevant form of the French verb ‘avoir’ (to have) and worked hard to describe characters from their class text for the Summer Term – ‘Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone’.
The children have worked exceptionally hard in their French work during this ‘Describing Me’ topic. Well done Year 4! Maybe if you ask them nicely, they might be able to describe you in French…!
